How Much to Charge for Logo Design: Real 2026 Price Ranges

From $300 starter logos to $3,000+ brand identities: what freelance designers charge in 2026 and how to build packages clients say yes to.

Freelens Flow Team

A logo can cost $5 on a marketplace or $50,000 from a branding agency. For most freelance designers working with small businesses, 2026 prices land between $300 and $2,000 per logo project. Where you fit depends on your experience and, more importantly, on what the client actually gets.

Logo design prices by experience level

LevelPrice per logo project
Entry-level (under 2 years)$300–500
Mid-level$500–1,500
Senior (5+ years)$1,500+

At around $500, clients should expect real discovery, two or three concepts, two revision rounds, and full vector files. Marketplace gigs often go much lower, because sellers there compete mainly on price. Outside marketplaces, you compete on process and trust, which pays better.

Calculate a price that covers your time

Market ranges tell you what clients accept. Your hours tell you whether you are making money. A typical small-business logo project breaks down like this:

PhaseEstimated hours
Discovery call and brief1–2
Research and moodboard2–3
Sketching and concepts4–6
Refinement and revisions3–5
Final files and handoff1–2
Total11–18 hours

Build three packages instead of one price

Offering tiers moves the conversation from "is this too expensive?" to "which one do I need?". Most clients pick the middle option.

StarterStandardBrand identity
Example price$400$900$2,000+
Initial concepts12–33
Revision rounds123
File formatsPNG, JPGPNG, JPG, SVG, PDFAll formats + variations
ExtrasNoneBlack/white + faviconColor palette, fonts, brand guide, social assets

A redesign is not automatically cheaper. You still need discovery, and you have to respect existing brand recognition. A light refresh (cleaner type, updated colors) can be priced lower. A full rethink should be priced like a new logo.

Pricing logo design as a beginner

  • Charge at least $300. Below that, you are pricing against marketplaces and attracting clients who value cheap over good.
  • Show your process, not only final logos. Moodboards and sketches make a small portfolio look professional.
  • Limit revisions from day one. "Unlimited revisions" turns a $300 logo into a 40-hour project.
  • Raise prices every 3 to 5 projects while your portfolio grows.

What your logo contract must include

  1. 1Deliverables: number of concepts, final file formats, and any extras.
  2. 2Revision rounds: how many are included and the price of each extra round.
  3. 3Payment terms: a 50% deposit before starting and the rest before final files.
  4. 4Ownership: copyright transfers to the client only after full payment.
  5. 5Portfolio rights: your permission to show the work publicly.
  6. 6Kill fee: what the client pays if they cancel partway through.

Frequently asked questions

How much should a beginner charge for a logo?

Entry-level freelance designers typically charge $300 to $500 per logo project. Charging less usually means competing with marketplace gigs and taking on unlimited revisions.

How much does a logo and branding package cost?

A brand identity package with a logo system, color palette, typography, and brand guidelines usually starts around $1,500 from an experienced freelancer and goes up from there.

Should I charge hourly or a flat fee for logo design?

Use your hourly rate to estimate, then quote a flat fee with a fixed number of concepts and revisions. Flat fees are easier for clients to approve.
